Mapei Provide Rock Solid Solution at Bar

The recently refurbished Pitcher & Piano bar in Brindley Place, Birmingham in June, required a special adhesive system for a unique wall covering, Mapei offered the perfect solution with Keraquick & Latex Plus. The Pitcher & Piano bar group, owned by Marston’s Inns and Taverns, is renowned for its bespoke designs created for each of its venues . For this project 30m2 of wall adjacent to the bar was covered with large individual rocks of Hand-made York Stone varying between approx. 5kg and 15kg in weight. To fix this individual wall finish onto a plywood substrate, tiling contractors Stancliffe & Huggett required a fast setting and highly flexible adhesive system which Mapei were able to provide with Keraquick and Latex Plus. C2FT classified Keraquick, is a fast setting, polymer modified, flexible S1 adhesive for walls and floors and when mixed with Latex Plus, latex additive, it becomes fully flexible S2. Even the heavier pieces were no problem for the high performance adhesive’s bond strength which proved highly successful throughout the installation. No primer is required either when fixing Keraquick & Latex Plus to any wooden substrate. The adhesive system allowed a rapid installation, and after fixing, the stone pieces were pointed using a sand:cement mortar achieving a very distinctive décor for the popular bar.
