15-02-2006
Welcome to the Febuary Issue of Motion News. In this issue, we are very pleased to introduce a new range of Servo drives to you-the Whistle which is the smallest Digital Servo Drive in the world, and Ocarina- a Miniature Analogue Servo Drive with excellent servo performance, high efficiency, high quality and reliability.
Miniature Digital Servo Drive- Whistle
The Whistle is an incredibly compact and smart digital servo drive for DC brush and brushless motors, linear motors and voice coils. It weighs only 50 grams and is no larger than a matchbox (2in³). Despite its small size it is incredibly powerful, packing a punch of up to 500W of continuous power and 1KW of peak power while still incorporating all the advanced features of the other digital drives within the SimplIQ range including: CANOpen, Ecam/Follower and dual loop. It is small and light enough to be mounted in a motor housing or near the motor. This significantly reduces the amount of cabling and associated maintenance.
Using Elmo's Composer setup tool, Whistle users can perform drive setup, configuration, tuning, analysis and drive programming quickly and easily.

Ocarina-Miniature Analog Servo-Amplifier
The Ocarina series of servo-amplifiers were designed for OEM's to deliver "the highest possible power density" in a matchbox size package. It operates from a DC power source in current mode in conjunction with a DC Brush or Brushless motor (linear or rotary).
There are two categories of Ocarinas: 60V DC versions and 100V DC versions. The Ocarina is a PCB mounted device which enables an efficient and cost effective solution.
