Why is Hybrid power better than Diesel-only?
Hybrid machines, engineered for power efficiency, use smaller, power-optimised hybrid engines that significantly outperform larger diesel-only models by cutting fuel consumption by up to 50%. These engines emit fewer pollutants, reducing their environmental impact without the need for additional exhaust filtration systems.
With the Gen2 Hybrid, you can benefit from an electric-only mode that eliminates emissions during operation. This mode allows you to switch off the diesel engine and run the machine purely on its electric motor, offering greater flexibility and freedom on-site.
How does Niftylift’s Gen2 Hybrid power system work?
Hybrid mode, where both electric and diesel systems work together, is automatically activated when the engine is running. The EU Stage V diesel engine is supplemented by the electric motor when extra power is needed, delivering maximum performance for heavy-duty tasks and outdoor operations. In this mode, the battery depletes according to power demand.
During lighter operations, excess engine power charges the batteries, storing energy for future high-demand tasks while maintaining battery health. This dual capability ensures efficient performance and longer battery life.
Once the battery is fully charged, switch to electric-only mode for stationary work to save on fuel. In this mode, the machine runs solely on the electric motor, offering zero-emission operation, perfect for indoor jobs, low-emission zones, and noise-sensitive environments. While drive speed may be slower, you can work for longer on a single charge, reducing both running costs and environmental impact.
What additional features are included?
Understanding the importance of battery health in the access industry, our Gen2 Hybrid power system includes advanced battery monitoring and protection to extend battery life and lower maintenance costs. The system tracks battery voltage, current, and temperature to prevent over-discharge and optimise charging, safeguarding the batteries from damage and ensuring a longer lifespan.
For best performance, we recommend charging the batteries overnight, so the machine is ready for use the next day. Should faster charging be required, simply switch on the engine. Our onboard diesel ‘Re-Gen’ feature charges the maintenance-free AGM batteries twice as quickly as an AC power source by using surplus power generated by the diesel engine during operation.
Top tip: Maximise the utility of your Niftylift Gen2 Hybrid machines by operating the electric motor quietly at night and recharging during the day while running on diesel. This approach enables 24-hour operation, keeping the batteries in optimal condition and the machine running at peak efficiency.
