Merry Christmas from Niftylift 2017
The story behind Niftylift’s 2017 Christmas tree and star. If you live in or around Milton Keynes, you may have noticed our Nifty Christmas Tree, which has been on display outside our world headquarters here in Shenley Wood. The ‘Nifty Christmas Tree’ made its debut in 2016, the aim of it being to produce something that Niftylift employees and the local community could enjoy, in a uniquely ‘Niftylift’ way. It proved to be a great success, with universally positive feedback from employees and our community neighbours, leading to our decision to repeat the display in 2017. This year we’ve gone one better with the addition of a Nifty Star at the top of the tree. Standing at 30m high, our Nifty Christmas Tree is one of the tallest structures in Milton Keynes and with Shenley Wood being one of the highest natural locations, can be seen from sites all around the city. How was the Nifty Christmas Tree Made? The ‘tree’ is made with three of Niftylift’s Height Rider 28 (HR28) Hybrid work platforms that have been wrapped in Christmas lights. Each machine took 7 hours to wrap and is covered in 1920 White LED lights. The ‘star’ is a custom-made structure, designed in-house and fabricated by Border Engineering, who also fabricate the steelwork on Niftylift cages. The star took 5 hours to wrap the with 900 Green LED lights, that are held in place by twenty five ‘end caps’, also designed in-house and produced using a Niftylift 3D printer. The tree and star total more than 6,600 lights which really help it to stand-out against the Milton Keynes skyline at night and we’ve been reliably informed of Nifty Christmas Tree sightings from as far afield as Bow Brickhill to the south of Milton Keynes and Stony Stratford to the North. Roger Bowden, Niftylift's founder and Chairman commented: “Niftylift has been in Milton Keynes for more than 30 years and we’ve grown to become a successful and sustainable British manufacturing company, offering many new employment opportunities to the area. “We remain committed to playing an active role within this wonderful community and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year!” If you’d like to see more of our Nifty Christmas Tree you can find a video telling the story behind it on our YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/8GUw2WE85-c And if you’ve spotted our tree sparkling in the night sky yourself, then we’d love to see a photo.
