The Zebra ZD421d is a small desktop label printer that uses direct thermal labels (no ink ribbon required) and small rolls of die-cut labels or rolls of continuous label material. The printer can also print thin card or receipt paper.
There are 200dpi and 300dpi versions of the printer and all printers have USB with the option of LAN, Bluetooth, WiFi and Serial connectivity (all field installable).
ZebraDesigner 3 Essentials is the free label design software that comes with the printer and is ideal for designing simple labels with text, barcodes, lines etc. This software is upgradable to ZebraDesigner 3 Professional which enables you to create more complex labels (with RFID support if needed), database connectivity, simple VB scripting and data manipulation and concatenation.
Windows drivers are available from zebra.com and seagullscientific.com.
