The MeterNetTM solution, a technically innovative concept sold exclusively by Stephen Gillespie consultants Ltd, brings a new dimension to metering computer system design.
MeterNet introduces state of the art technology to replace the conventional system structure of proprietary flowcomputers and associated database computer.
MeterNet comprises of the SGC MeteorTM – Metering Supervisory Computer, the SGC Integrator – Flow Calculation Application and the SGC MeterNet I/OTM – Distributed I/O System; configured as an integrated package.
The system operator interface is via the MeteorTM metering supervisory computer (MSC) where all
flowcomputational parameters as well as MSC functions can be accessed, viewed, controlled or modified. Control functions and modification of parameters are subject to password control.
The IntegratorTM provides a nearlimitless, multi-stream, multi product flow calculation application, resident on a single PC. Redundancy is provided by duplication of the application on a “stand-by” PC with flow calculations
executing simultaneously.
The MeterNet I/O system provides the direct interface to all field instrumentation and equipment. Duplicated I/O systems can be provided for increased redundancy.
MeterNet I/O is a unique distributed I/O system specifically designed to meet the demanding I/O
requirements of flow metering systems.
Being of modular design MeterNet I/OTM is a cost effective solution, scalable to meet the requirements
of any size of installation.
The MeterNet I/O system provides a range of standard modules but more importantly is furnished with
modules specifically designed for metering applications. No other system can collectively provide the complete range of required features in a single assembly e.g.;
• High accuracy analogue inputs (16 bit minimum)
• High accurate frequency inputs (densitometer period
measurement)
• Hart communications (digital transmitter interface)
• Dual pulse inputs with pulse integrity monitoring in
accordance with ISO6551 Level “A”
• Gated pulse counting with double chronometry, pulse interpolation in accordance with API Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards
The MeterNet I/O P3-CPU provides communications via Modbus RTU (Serial) and Modbus TCP (Ethernet).
OPC interface can also be provided via the MeterNet I/O OPC Server.
The P3 is a programmable device supporting all five IEC 61131 programme languages. This PLC functionality adds to the system flexibility and routines such as valve handling, meter proving sequencing and automatic sampling can be provided as embedded functions.
