Introduction When Mexichem required alarm data from their Omniflex alarm annunciator in India to be remotely monitored from the UK, they chose Omniflex because of their ability to cost effectively monitor the data via their cloud based monitoring system. When Mexichem awarded Omniflex (UK) Ltd with the contract of adding a remote monitoring system to their Omniflex Omni8c alarm annunciator system due to be installed in their facility in India, they chose an Omniflex Data2Desktop (D2D) Cloud based solution due to its capability of remotely monitoring (worldwide) and sending email & SMS alarm alerts using cost effective 3G networks. To achieve this, the Omniflex alarm annunciator was fitted with an RS232/485 serial port, allowing simple connectivity via modbus to an Omniflex Teleterm M3G1E 3G RTU. The RTU then connects to the Omniflex cloud based D2D Monitoring service via the 3G network.
