Permatred is made from beech veneers impregnated with phenolic resin, which are consolidated under high pressure and temperature into homogeneous flooring sheets of high mechanical strength. Special press plates are used during the pressing process to give Permatred its characteristic chequer plate finish. The material is hard wearing with good sound, thermal and electrical insulating properties. Permatred is highly resistant to petrol, oil, weak acids and alkalis. It is non-corrosive and proof against fungus, termites, rot and rodents.
Typical applications include electrical duct covers, flooring applications and uses in the marine industry for insulation/flooring in engine rooms. Permatred is also used in Defence applications where non-metallic high wear materials are required.
