Application Note. Using the GPS10RBN is planes. A customer, who have several GPS10RBN's, recently did some interesting tests. He needed to have two 1 pps signals aligned to each other to within 20 - 50 ns. One 1 pps signal was on the ground and the other in a plane that would be flying for several hours. After asking us several questions, we advised on the best settings for the GPS10RBN, as to be honest, the GPS10RBN was never designed for portable applications. The customer reported that the tests had gone well. He did encounter some difficulties but these were over come and he got some good results. This isn't the first time the GPS10RBN has been used in a plane. We know of them being used in a boat, train and car as well. When the GPS10RBN was designed, it was designed for a specific market... calibration labs and manufacturing facilities. But now it is being used for many other applications. We are always keen to hear of any testing done using our products, so please do send us some results, if you have the time.
