Ultra Low Phase Noise Oscillators at 75 MHz recently designed. A company carrying out optical research requested a very low phase noise 75 MHz oscillator. This was to be added to the GPS10RBN frequency standard. So it needed to not only be ultra low phase noise, but locked to the main 10 MHz reference. The company had researched the market and simply couldn't find anyone to meet their requirements. We are happy to say we managed to come up with a design that had lower phase noise than any competitive supplier. We offered two versions. The best would give -132 dBc/Hz @ 10 Hz with a -180 dBc/Hz noise floor but was very expensive! The second version was the one the customer went for, because it still offered outstanding low phase noise at a reasonable price. The phase noise at 75 MHz was -105 dBc/Hz @ 10 Hz offset and -170 dBc/Hz @ 10 kHz offset. Our expertise in low phase noise is getting better every day. We can design to 40 GHz, either free running or phase locked versions
