New Partnership – Audiometric Testing
04-05-2022
Pulsar Instruments are proud to announce a new partnership with audiometer manufacturer, Amplivox.
Amplivox’s range of audiometry equipment has allowed us to offer our clients, that extra level of support in their fight against Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL).
Screening new employees’ hearing should be an important part of your noise at work strategy. This will establish a baseline for each employee and help you understand any changes in their level of hearing.
You should carry out your first hearing assessment within 12 months of an employee’s start date. You should then carry out a further assessment after 12 months to compare and analyse the results. Alongside your Noise at Work assessments, this will help you decide whether hearing loss is due to activities inside or outside of the workplace.
Hearing screening should be carried out in a quiet room, no louder than 30dB. If this isn’t possible, you should use fitted Audiocups to reduce the noise below this level. These can attenuate by up to 44dB but if the noise levels are still too high, you will need to use an Audiology booth to ensure your testing is done correctly.
