Regular vibration exposure from hand-held instruments or vibrating equipment can result in various ailments and irreparable damage to the hands, arms and back. Hand-arm disability-related absences are estimated to cost the UK up to 300,000 working days per year, in addition to other noise-related occurrences causing employee health concerns.
As well as this, Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) is a chronic pain condition that develops after using vibrating power equipment on a regular basis or for extended periods of time. Carpal tunnel syndrome and vibration white finger (VWF), among other hand injuries involving blood vessels, nerves, and joints, are included in HAVS. Employers who let this happen to their employees at work risk receiving significant HAVS fines.
Since 2015, the UK has faced over £5 million in fines due to this often overlooked issue.
Pulsar Instruments is driven not only to spread the word at our seminars but also to emphasise the significance of these health risks to industry professionals and employers.
