World Hearing Day 2021
03-03-2021
World Hearing Day 2021 takes place on Wednesday 3 March, and this year’s campaign theme is ‘Hearing Care for All! Screen, Rehabilitate, Communicate’.
The 2021 campaign will also mark the launch of the first-ever World Report on Hearing, which aims to drive policy actions for the integration of ear and hearing care into national health policies.
Ear and Hearing Care
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO):
196 million people in the European region are currently living with hearing loss.
By 2050 it is projected that 236 million people in the region will suffer from problems with their hearing daily.
Nearly 80% of people with hearing loss live in low and middle-income countries.
Hearing loss is expensive to communities and costs the region US$ 225 billion annually.
