Winter Wonderland Furniture
Our recent trip to the 100% Design Show in London gave a valuable insight into the upcoming autumn and winter trends, with one of most memorable being this selection of faux forest furniture.
For companies looking to establish a creative, fun and relaxed workplace culture, this is the perfect identity statement. In addition to this, the uplifting atmosphere it creates is a great way to boost staff morale.
Consider adding a distressed Wagamama-style bench among the soft wood logs and stumps: this will create a great seasonal breakout space for your employees
Inviting Pendant Lights
It is well documented that bad lighting can have a number of negative effects on your workforce, including headaches, eye strain and depression. Therefore, providing your staff with a well-lit environment should be a priority – especially at this gloomy time of year.
Not only are hanging pendant lights a great addition for the reasons above, the aesthetic qualities they bring will give your office a noticeable lift. The atmosphere of warmth they evoke, for example, is ideal for autumn and winter, while those looking to create an industrial look will love the extended cables and retro shells.
A Copper Colour Scheme
According to Pantone, Copper Tan is set to be a key colour trend for the autumn/winter seasons. Described as “a burnished shade known for its welcoming warmth,” it is perfect for this chilly time of year, and will look great when teamed with a cooler shade like white or cream.
To compliment the Copper Tan colour, consider introducing copper features as well. In our recent commercial fit out for a tea making company, we introduced a number of copper elements, including a café counter top and pendant lights.
Plush Velvet Furniture
Another trend that wowed our office designers at the 100% Design Show was luxurious velvet furniture. The sumptuous fabric can really give your office an air of grandiosity, especially if you introduce ornamental velvet sofas and individual lounge chairs.
To give clients and interviewees a good first impression of your company, we recommend introducing velvet furniture into your reception/waiting area. A bold red velvet is a naturally good colour choice for the festive season, but for longevity you may wish to go for something a little more understated.
Outdoor Inspiration
While it may be too cold to go outside, by introducing natural elements into your workplace you can bring the outside to you. There are a number of ways this can be achieved, including the following:
Tree stumps – Perfect as decorations or stools, these look great when placed alongside blonde wood furniture for a rustic interior design.
Natural Lighting – Introducing a sky ceiling, glass partitions or even more windows via a commercial fit out will give employees greater access to natural light.
Living Walls – This is the process where vertical surfaces are transformed into a wall of grass or foliage. This year, moss walls are becoming increasingly popular because they require little or no maintenance.
