GIFT OF THE YEAR: Ravensden sponsors Kids category of Gift of the Year Awards

The long established toy and giftware importer ‘Ravensden’, specialising in designing, manufacturing and supplying children’s products, particularly for the zoo, aquarium and leisure markets, has become the latest company to support the 2013 Gift of the Year Awards by sponsoring the ‘Kids’ Category’ of the competition. Ravensden’s Director, Michael Papé told giftwrap: “We have had a long standing relationship with The GA and have been aware of the Gift of the Year awards for a number of years. As a member of The Association’s national committee I have also personally attended the prize giving event for the past two years. “What struck me was the enormous variety of companies entering – from the small sole trader right up to the large players with product in most of the national retailers. We all know how difficult it is for smaller companies to get a foothold in the market and I feel that these awards allow these companies (whether they are shortlisted or actual winners) to present their product to a wider audience who may actually want to buy them. This is our main reason for wanting to be involved: to give the smaller companies in the industry the opportunity to promote their ideas and hopefully to flourish.” Michael is also a passionate believer that the industry should work together and that, where possible, the more established players should offer generic advice to those entering the industry. “It’s all about supporting each other and the wider giftware industry community which is something I feel The GA does so well,” he says. “We are delighted to have Ravensden on board,” says The GA’s CE, Isabel Martinson. “It is thanks to their generosity and that of our other sponsors, most especially our key supporter i2i Events, the organisers of Spring Fair International and Autumn Fair International, and long standing trade magazine sponsor Progressive Gifts & Home Worldwide, that we are able to stage this important competition which, as Michael points out, does so much to bring new gift and home talent in front of the widest possible audience.”
