THE BIOCOMPOSITE RANGE BY DURASENSE
15-08-2020
DuraSense is an eco-friendly product range, working with a company called Stora Ensa, a renewable materials company.
The Biocomposite range has been acquired to manufacture a sustainable plastic alternative.
What is the DuraSense Biocomposite Range?
The selection of products is a unique blend of wood fibres and sustainable plastics, to create a product suitable for plastic moulding that can either be reused or broken down efficiently.
The wood fibres that are used in the manufacturing process are locally sourced from their Nordic Forests and only uses wood from the native Nordic Spruce tree.
The finished product is verified under the third-party certified chain of custody system, ensuring both the brand and biocomposite products are environmentally responsible.
Not only is the product just as flexible and strong as many standard plastics, but the cooling time when making the material is actually much shorter and complies to greater stiffness for the product.
What Can the Products be Used For?
These plastic products are suitable for a wide range of both industrial and domestic uses, like transportation boxes and even clothing hangers.
In terms of the plastic processes that they are compatible with, they can be used in injection moulding, plastic extrusion and 3D printing.
Why is the Product so Sustainable?
All polymers that go into making this range of bioplastics are either virgin, recycled or bio-based.
Changing to this range of plastic materials has been proven to reduce your carbon footprint by up to 80% and can manufacture products containing up to 98% renewable materials.
The production process involves thermal-mechanical moulding which has a very low environmental impact.
