Dan Wilson celebrates 20 Years at Servaclean
Servaclean’ s Senior CAD Technician Dan Wilson celebrates twenty years with Servaclean this month so, to mark the occasion, we sat down with him to find out what he likes the most, the biggest changes and what the future holds.
What was Servaclean like 20 years ago?
The skin and bones of Servaclean, in essence, have not changed in the 20 years that I have worked with the team. We worked as hard then as we do now to achieve the high standards that we are proud of and are renowned for today, always pushing to improve and extend our product range to keep up to date with the latest trends in bartending.
What has been the biggest change?
Everything changed for everyone when Covid arrived. During lockdown my colleagues found themselves either furloughed or in the solitude of a makeshift home office.
I was one of a few who carried on working through it and was never short of work. With the changes within hospitality due to covid, we found ourselves as busy as ever with venues refurbishing to accommodate the new rules and guidelines – this was a perfect time to freshen up venues prior to re-opening.
During this time, we also embraced the digital age and streamlined our ways of working. Gone were the hard copy project files and the cabinets that held them. This, along with updating our CAD, Sales and Account systems, allowed us to improve drawings and productivity making the whole company more efficient.
What is the best thing about working at Servaclean?
I love working at Servaclean. We have a great team, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. This makes the job very enjoyable and, with each project being unique and challenging, the work is always interesting. I can’t see myself doing anything else.
What is your biggest achievement?
My biggest achievement is how I have grown within the company – starting off as a temp in general admin to helping out in the CAD Department. This is where I felt very comfortable and quickly found myself full time as a CAD Operator.
In recent years I have taken on more responsibilities, integrating Bar Planning into my role along with overseeing the running of the CAD Department. I would like to thank Servaclean for their continued support and I look forward to the next 20 years with them.
What things do you like doing outside of work that help keep the work life balance?
I enjoy spending time with my family, fiancé and close friends, be it going to a game of rugby league with my dad, brother and nephew or watching F1 on the TV with my friends. I’m also just as happy with a quiet game of golf as I am a busy BBQ with my mates.
Everyone at Servaclean would like to congratulate Dan on reaching 20 years’ service with the company and thank him for his continued passion and commitment.
