Project 1 UPM - Irvine Papermill & Workington Turbine buildings

Industrial Products - Projects Project 1 UPM - Irvine Papermill & Workington Turbine buildings Solway were involved in both projects to manufacture the columns, beams and cladding panels for the turbine buildings at Irvine and Workington papermills. These projects were manufacture only with the inserts being supplied by the client. At Irvine the columns were longer and lighter for a building which housed a lighter turbine. Where at Workington the columns upto 65 tonnes, and beams upto 42 tonnes were substancially larger for a bigger turbine. The cladding panels also differed, Irvine had an exposed aggregate finish, where Workington had an ordinary concrete finish. Both projects were manufactured at Barrhill where our in house mould makers manufactured the many different moulds. Daily programs were managed to meet the site errectors delivery scheme.
