The 7S system aims to drive out waste from the manufacturing process and determines the organisation of work space for efficiency and effectiveness: Importantly improving the bottom line by enhancing products and services, and lowering costs. Developed in Japan it is one of the techniques that enabled Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing, cellular manufacturing, total quality management (TQM) and six sigma initiatives.
