Hot Demineralised Water Tank Lining Project - Bluestar Fibres, Grimsby
We were asked by Bluestar Fibres, Grimsby to relining another tank for them.
For this project they required an advanced resin tank lining system to withstand the aggressive atmosphere of a hot demineralised water storage tank.
The tank was constructed from carbon steel tank and had an existing vulcanised rubber lining which had completely broken down.
Because of the aggressive environment that demineralised water creates, we proposed for the lining of this tank a glass-flake reinforced vinyl ester tank lining system which would be low maintenance and high performing under these aggressive conditions and should it be required is also suitable a general hot water tank or for steam condensate return tank.
To save costs to the client, we suggested that they use a local company to remove the old existing lining and to grit blast the internal surfaces of the tank. The abrasive grit blasting was carried out to our specification, prior to our arrival to site.
We applied new tank system by airless spray as a multi-coat system and after sufficient hardening tested the new lining for dry film thickness and absence of micro-porosity.
From our side the work was completed within 5 working days and the tank could be returned to service 48hours later.
