Celebrating 10 years in manufacturing

Taylor Shaw Manufacturing are celebrating 10 years in manufacturing and have now expanded to over 40, 000 sq ft and employ 41 people. Taylor Shaw Manufacturing Ltd, Springhill Works, Accrington, were handed the funds as part of the No Limits Finance for Growth programme. The business, which according to bosses David Shaw and Stephen Taylor is going from strength to strength, will move to the next level thanks to the £38,000 grant. The entrepreneurial pair set up Taylor Shaw Manufacturing Ltd in 2007 and have calculated year on year growth with an increased turnover last year despite the recession. The money will fund more machines which will allow the business to expand its customer base and commit to more orders as well as creating five jobs and expanding to an adjacent unit Mr Shaw said: “We are pleased at how the business has developed since we started a couple of years ago and we have a strong enquiry and order book. “We pretty soon realised we needed more machines to expand and so looked around for available grants. We have had lots of support and help to get the Finance for Growth grant and would encourage other businesses to get in touch with the Council to apply.” Mr Taylor added: “The grant has enabled us to buy a new laser cutting machine which means we can run the plant 24/7, it’s made a big difference to our business and we are pleased that our application for the grant was successful.” The No Limits is a partnership which includes Lancashire County Council, the local authorities of Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn and Pendle as well Burnley FC, Accrington Stanley and Blackburn Rovers. The Government has granted No Limits £23.4m over three years to help people start a business and to support local businesses that want to develop and grow. Coun Peter Britcliffe, leader of Hyndburn Council presenting the cheque, said: “In these gloomy economic times it’s wonderful to hear about local success stories like Taylor Shaw.”
