"Blackfriars Solar Bridge is the world’s largest solar bridge. It is also the home of Blackfriars Station, a London landmark and the first railway station to span the River Thames. The upgrade of the Victorian bridge, built in 1886, will incorporate over 4,400 solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and generate an estimated 900,000kWh of electricity every year, providing 50% of the station’s energy and reducing CO2 emissions by an estimated 490 tonnes per year.
TRB Solution
•TRB Lightweight Structures manufactured and supplied large composite aluminium sandwich panels. The bespoke panels were chosen for their rigidity over large spans while their relatively low weight reduced installation costs.
