Veronex – Enhanced Display
Veronex – Enhanced Display Bigger, better and nicer - what's not to like? Vero’s Veronex product range has been further extended to accept larger display screens with the viewing area increased by 90%. A typical standard 16x2 display had a character size of 3.8mm x 2mm. The latest Veronex (Part No 75-228114_LCD_PLUS) can accommodate the newer displays with typical character sizes of 6.7 x 2.4mm or 5.55 x 2.95mm (e.g. Winstar WEH001602A or Lumex) – an increase in character area of over 100%, enhancing readability and widening the choice of display. Not only is the viewing area increased, but the Veronex has been further improved to accept larger carrier boards. The range of LCD displays available is extensive; RS Components and Farnell carry over 1000 part numbers between them from a large range of manufacturers. The displays themselves are typically mounted on a PCB – this determines the internal dimensions of the enclosure – the latest addition to the range (Part No 75-228120_LCD_PLUS) can accept a carrier board of 80 x 36mm, typical of the common 75 x 31mm mounting centres used by a number of suppliers. With an internal width of 84mm in the new Veronex enclosure, there is the option to accept even larger boards, with the other height dimension machined to suit (in this example an additional hexadecimal keypad has been added). Recent trends in hand-held devices have moved forward on a number of fronts – keypad data entry has evolved and communication with the device has been driven with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Vero Technologies have extended their solutions addressing I/O and HMI requirements. Depending on the controller, the majority of two line displays support multiple lines that become visible by scrolling through a drop down menu. For branding, there is always the opportunity to show the company name in the display, with the drop down menu allowing you to scroll down and take menu based actions. As part of its comprehensive in-house modification capability, Vero Technologies offer a printing service to add logo or functional text to the enclosure body. For full details of how we can modify the standard enclosure to suit your application, follow this link. The extended Veronex range retains all the existing features, such as internal EMC shielding option, IP64 rating option and all the accessories such as battery boxes and I/R transmissive end panels. Veronex is an ideal platform for developments involving displays – applications do not necessarily have to be hand-held, existing features allow for wall mounting, but the advances in rechargeable batteries have paved the way for true remote hand-held devices - the ability to power a small but very powerful system in a hand-held enclosure is here. So no longer do we see the unit on some umbilical cord and D-sub min connector, users now want something like a USB interface, typically positioned on one of the end of the enclosure. As well as Bluetooth connection, Veronex retains the ability to have an Infra-Red window for otherwise noisy environments as part of the standards accessories. These enhancements have extended the scope and duration of hand-held applications using LCD display technology.
