Zigma®’s GeoGrid awarded UK Patent

Zigma® Ground Solutions, a world leader in delivering innovative and sustainable temporary access and ground protection products, based in Stansted, Essex, UK, is proud to announce the award of its first UK patent for the product GeoGrid. GeoGrid is a cellular, inter-connecting, ground re-enforcement grid, or tile, for use in constructing environmentally friendly car and truck parks, emergency access lanes, driveways, depot work areas and SUDS (suburban urban drainage systems). GeoGrid™’s cells can be ‘finished off’ (in-filled) with gravel, ornamental stones or seeded with grass, providing a sustainable alternative to both tarmac and concrete. Further, the installation of GeoGrid™ provides for the effective dispersion of rain water and allows the ground underneath to ‘breathe’. The UK patent was awarded for GeoGrid’s unique cellular design – an Arabic/algebraic pattern. GeoGrid’s unique design delivers both the highest weight load rating versus comparable products, together with the most efficient contraction and expansion capabilities, a key requirement where there can be extremes of both hot and cold temperatures. GeoGrid, designed and manufactured in the UK, demonstrates Zigma®’s total commitment to sustainability, being manufactured from 100% recycled plastics (as with all Zigma®’s products), and is 100% recyclable. Since GeoGrid’s launch in 2008, it has been installed across a wide spectrum of major civil and construction projects in the UK.
