“Y-Lock Pullforce”: Non-ZIF Connector
System with Locking
Munich, September 2008 – Yamaichi Electronics presents
the Non-ZIF connector system “Y-Lock Pullforce” with
pullforce locking mechanism as an alternative to ZIF
connectors.
To improve and simplify handling and process security when
plugging FFC/FPC in production, Yamaichi has developed a
unique connector system. Commercially available FFC/FPC can
be connected with the new non-ZIF connector “Y-Lock
Pullforce”. They are interlocked over a hook mechanism in the
connector. Interlocking occurs directly during the plugging
process, so that no further cover, drawer or similar steps are
needed. This “one push-lock" system simplifies production
handling and ensures a secure and permanent connection. An
additional and optional stiffener makes the system “Poka Yoke”
and avoids plugging errors to 100%.
The special feature of this connector system is the board
connector design. The locking mechanism consisting of a row of
engagement hooks allows a secure connection between the
FFC/FPC and the board connector. Locking happens with the
standard supporting tape of the FFC/FPC or optionally via an
additional plastic stiffener that is glued to the FFC/FPC. The
shape of this additional stiffener does not allow any plugging
errors and offers increased security, e.g. against vibration.
The board connectors have a pitch of 0.5 or 1 mm and are
available in horizontal and vertical versions. The series will be
