HaloTech More than just a reedbed!

AERC Ltd is constructing its first HaloTech wetland for the primary treatment of high strength landfill leachate at Viridor’s Westbury Municipal Solid Waste landfill site in Wiltshire. The project is going ahead following extensive research and development work carried out by AERC. Treatability trials have shown that the unique wetland configuration is capable of treating high strength leachates (ammonium >1000 mg/L and COD 4000 mg/L) to a standard below the limits of the sewer discharge consent. The Westbury HaloTech wetland, to be commissioned in Spring 2006, is the first of its kind in the UK. AERC have more systems in their final design stages engineered for treating a range of wastewater and effluent types.
