Avelair have recently installed a new compressed air system with the Avelair DPR dust ingress protection system into a grain sorting company. The client has installed a new optical colour grain sorting machine into an existing building where the environment was very dusty. The solution for the client was to construct a plant room within the building and Avelair designed and supplied a dust ingress protection system comprising of an intake fan and a dust collection system – this ensured the plant room was supplied with adequate clean cooling air for the new Avelair compressed air system allowing optimum operation. The client installed ductwork onto the aftercooler of the compressor to discharge the hot air out of the room. The dust ingress protection system inlcuded a pressure gauge to know when the client has to change the dust bags.
Poor environments such as inadequate ventilation and dust are one of the biggest issues that we see in compressor installation. If you get it wrong, the compressor will have reliability issues – get it right such as this client and you will enjoy long term reliability, uptime and efficiency.
The compressed air system comprised of a British manufactured Avelair variable speed 37kW compressor, British manufactured air receiver fitted with a zero loss drain and a desiccant dryer with dewpoint dependent switching. The system will provide oil free and dry compressed air to ISO 8673-1 class 1.2.1. As the environment was subject to the cold weather, the compressor is fitted with a frost protection kit ensuring the system would start up in ambient temperatures down to about -10C even after a weekend of not running. The zero loss drain was also fitted with a heater to ensure condensate in the drain did not freeze, expand and cause damage to the drain. The complete system has been designed and built for optimum reliability and efficiency.
