Ecofit Forward Curved Centrifugal Fans with AC or EC motors

Axair Fans offer a  range of single inlet forward curved centrifugal fans which are manufactured by Ecofit and are available in both standard AC or energy efficient EC versions. In forward curved centrifugal fans, the air is drawn in from the side inlet and changes direction as it is forced out of the top exhaust via its scroll housing.

Due to their compact design, forward curved fans are the ideal solution for either pressurising or evacuating air in confined spaces such as furnaces, fan coil units, HVAC or combustion systems. This type of fan is integrated into a combustion system for the purpose of intake air. Forward curved centrifugal fans such as our GRE and GRF range are commonly referred to as centrifugal blower fans. The blower fan works as the oxygen source inside a combustion system enabling a fast-burning process reaching maximum temperatures.

Integrating the correct fan will guarantee a complete, effective combustion cycle and ultimately ensures system efficiency.

For optimal fan selection it is essential to establish the following criteria:

  • Dimensional limits
  • Volume flow rate and pressure requirements
  • Ambient conditions
  • Sound levels
  • Electrical supply and tolerances

Please note system resistance to airflow can be difficult to estimate therefore if you need assistance our team can help. A sample may be required in some applications to determine suitability. In response to your specific needs the airflow, power, rotational speeds, noise level, software, overall dimensions and finish of the fans can be specifically defined according to individual project requirements. Lead times and MOQ’s do apply but where performance is an influence of this criteria this is always the best option.

AC Ecofit Fans & Motors AC Ecofit fans and motors prove a more suitable solution where a stable and more durable supply is required such as railway, heat recovery, marine, military and other specialist applications. Ecofit motors are manufactured with a class F insulation system. Single phase AC motors are thermally protected either by the winding impedance or by an auto-resetting thermal cut-out.

Key Benefits of AC Motors:

  • Extremely Durable
  • Low power start-up
  • Controlled levels of starting current
  • Consistent power control
  • Controlled acceleration
  • Deliver high Speed
  • Stable and constant performance

Ecofit AC motors are speed controllable by voltage variation but where electronic controllers are used, they must be designed for electric motor duty and be compatible with ECOFIT products.

Key Benefits of EC Motors:

  • Low energy consumption
  • Ease of use
  • Speed control
  • High efficiency
  • Maintains pressure at varying airflow
  • Easy installation and connection
  • Integrated monitoring function
  • Longer lifespan
  • Compact construction
  • Recyclability
  • Low noise

Suitable for use within applications requiring constant airflow or constant pressure, EC fans provide higher speeds than AC versions without the need for an inverter or speed controller. This is due to its electronic & power transformation being integrated within the motor. EC Ecofit motors are also protected by their electronic system.

Understanding GDR, GDS and GDF Fan Types and Codes

The GRE versions have open inlets and either detachable flanges, side ‘ears’, or plain discharge ducts. The GRF versions, for slightly higher-pressure development, have innovative double shaft mounting with guard supported resilient bearing mount and fixed discharge flange.

GRE - Single inlet centrifugal fan, IP44.

GRF - Single inlet centrifugal fan, High Pressure, double shaft, IP54.

GDR - Double inlet centrifugal fan, IP44

GDS - Double inlet centrifugal fan, double shaft, IP44 GDF -Double inlet centrifugal fan, double shaft, high power, IP54

The GDR versions have motor support at one side, whilst the GDS & GDF models are supported at both inlets to provide optimal mechanical isolation.

GDR & GDS have detachable flanges, side ‘ears’, or plain discharge ducts, whereas the GDF is only available with a fixed flange. GDR & GDS are supplied with leads-out and normally with a loose capacitor as a necessary accessory. They can also be supplied pre-wired to a side-plate mounted capacitor. The GDF model is pre-wired with capacitor as standard.
