Automotive - keeping you on the road
Carrs Welding assemble and laser weld numerous parts for the car industry, from clutch plates to collapsible steering column assemblies, sensors to gear trains.
Larger transmission components are welded on disk lasers, where the laser penetrates up to 10mm. Dissimilar metals may now be successfully welded together to create an assembly for example for a differential or a gearbox. Today, complex components such as CV joints can be welded fully assembled with no fear of weld spatter or of heat distortion damaging the heat treatment or affecting precision tolerances. Advances in laser welding technology enable many processes to be performed which were previously not possible with conventional welding methods. Please give us a call to find out how we might help streamline your component production.
Bentley Motors
Case 1 - Bentley Motors
Carrs purchase components for the prestigious Bentley's rear light clusters and monitor the stock of these pending the customer schedules and programme. The schedule for the finished product arrives by email each Monday, stock parts are called up, welded and tested, and completed orders generally despatched within just a few days of call-off. Carrs have been supplying this high quality light assembly since 2002.
Perkins
Case 2 - Perkins
Pulley gears for Perkins are a two plate assembly of a gear that needs a retaining plate so the belt runs true. Small batches of gears are clamped in a dedicated jig and welded on the plate through into the gear below. An even strong clamping pressure is necessary to ensure a good sound weld. Carrs weld gear trains for road vehicles and racing cars which are shipped to satisfied customers worldwide.
