Timber cladding is mostly used on the external walls of properties. It’s common place on both traditional and contemporary styled properties due to its versatile style. Whether you’re planning to use it to divide walls or partially clad areas, it will create a great contrast to brick, render and stone.
As well as looking great, timber cladding protects buildings from the elements and provides a thermal encapsulation that retains heat in a property. When fitted correctly there should be a breathable cavity that ensures an escape route for water. This prevents any water damage to the cladding or to the property.
Choosing the right profile
This mainly comes down to the aesthetics. Do you have a style in mind? From featheredge to shiplap, there are loads of profiles to choose from that all offer a different look. Take a look at page 40 of our brochure for some inspiration.
Choosing the wood species
At Champion, we sell redwood, cedar, sapele, and thermowood timber cladding. With service lives between 15 and 60 years, your wood choice can depend on a number of things, including price. Colours can vary and our Tanalith-E treated redwood will have a green tint but can be stained to any colour you like.
Timber cladding profiling service
If you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for, our custom profile matching service can give you the precise profile and size that you need. All we need is a sample of the profile to be matched, or a drawing with precise measurements so we can create an exact match. Our cladding profiles are available in a variety of timbers including:
