THE UKCA MARK

What are the changes for you? As we are approaching the end of the 'Brexit' transition period, the Government have recently issued an important update on the use of the CE mark and new UKCA (United Kingdom Conformity Assessed) mark. As referenced on www.gov.uk, from January 1st 2021, the UKCA mark will be the conformity assessment marking for Great Britain, although additional information is available for Northern Ireland. There are some exceptions, but this will apply to most goods that are currently subject to CE marking. Businesses have the year 2021 to adjust, however there are some cases listed on www.gov.uk where the UKCA mark must be used immediately from 1st January 2021. It is worth noting that where a business may have previously been a Distributor, they will become an Importer, and therefore have additional obligations to fulfill. Cranage EMC and Safety will automatically become a UK-recognised approved body and can therefore work with manufacturers to ensure products are compliant with the UKCA requirements.
