Curtiss Wright India Awarded 2nd Place For Technical Solution in Thermal Generation

GENERATION PROCESS

PARAMUS, NJ – March 10, 2023 – Curtiss-Wright’s Surface Technologies Division, a leading
global provider of highly engineered surface treatments and analytical services, announces the
CWST India team won second place for their work on “fatigue life improvement techniques for
boiler tubes under cyclic operation, influenced by various material, operational & external
parameters”. On-site shot peening services were offered at two thermal power plants in India on
a pilot basis. This consisted of virgin boiler tube ID peening in free length state and also in an
assembled condition in one of the power plants. The goal was to increase the service life of the
super charger boiler tubes and to improve the microstructure of the tube by inducing
compressive stress to avoid crack propagation at the edge bend section of the tubes.

Technologies Division, says “In 2022 India added a capacity of 4,485 MW through eight thermal
power plants and plans to commission ten thermal power plants in 2023, with an aggregate
