EVERLUBE® PRODUCTS ACHIEVE PFAS COMPLIANCE WITH THE TRANSITION TO
PTFE GRADES AND LAUNCHES FLUOROPOLYMER-FREE DRY FILM LUBRICANT
PARAMUS, NJ –
October 31, 2024 –
Curtiss-Wright’s Surface Technologies Division, a leading global provider of highly engineered surface treatments and analytical services is proud to announce Everlube Products, a business of Curtiss-Wright, has successfully transitioned all
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) raw materials to per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
compliant grades in response to increasing regulatory scrutiny on "forever chemicals." PFAS
are endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and have been termed ‘forever chemicals’ because
of the time it takes our bodies to break them down. They are present in countless items used
every day including automotive, off-road vehicles, commercial aviation, chemical processing,
and medical to semiconductor, aerospace and defence. We are being exposed to them
constantly through what we breathe, touch and eat, whether as an end user or supply chain
partner. Small, but repeated, exposures to PFAS can build up and eventually interfere with
hormones, affecting a range of impacts from mood and sleep to blood pressure, metabolism
and reproduction.
With this transition, Everlube Products now meets both the US FDA's limit of less than 100 parts
per million (PPM) and the European Union's more stringent limit of less than 25 parts per billion
(PPB). The company's dry film lubricants are now fully aligned with these rigorous standards.
As part of its commitment to innovation and regulatory compliance, Everlube Products has also
developed a completely fluoropolymer-free dry film lubricant, Everlube 6117, which has been
thoroughly tested by an established OEM in the pump and valve industry. “Going beyond global
regulatory standards and developing a fully fluoropolymer-free dry film lubricant is a significant
milestone for Everlube® Products, and it reflects our dedication to offering high-quality,
environmentally responsible solutions to our customers,” said David Rivellini, Vice President
and General Manager of the Surface Technologies division.
About Everlube 6117
Everlube 6117 is a cutting-edge dry film lubricant specifically designed for light load
applications. It serves as an effective dry lubricant for small diameter fasteners and complies
with strict US state regulations for 100% PFAS-free products suitable for potable water
applications. This new product is the result of Everlube Products' continued investment in
research and development, aimed at delivering advanced solutions that address both
performance and environmental challenges.
