With many more organisations choosing to live stream their events, viewers and audience members are beginning to form a certain level of expectation when it comes to the live stream’s success.

If you’re holding your first live stream event soon and you want to get it right first time, our team of experts here at Film Your Event have compiled a list of things to tick off your checklist when it comes to planning your live stream.

Plan Thoroughly

As you would with any event, thorough planning is essential for any live streamed event. This will make sure that your presentation, ceremony, or conference is delivered in the best way possible, ensuring that all of your important points are received clearly to the correct audience.

With this is mind, plan what it is your event is offering. Why does it need to be live streamed?

Who are you presenting to? Who is your audience going to be? Who will be speaking on your live stream and are they sufficiently prepped?

And where will you be live streaming from? Does your live streaming set up work well on camera? Is the lighting correct? Can your speakers be seen clearly?

Professional Equipment

Using the best quality equipment and lighting will not only improve the video quality of your live stream, but will improve the reliability and reduce the chance of any mishaps during your event.

Choose a Platform

Once you’ve established your audience, it is best to decide where you are going to be able to target this group.

We offer a number of live streaming services. The Youtube/Twitter/Facebook platforms are perfect for a simple solution that is very cost effective. It also allows you stream to larger audiences, as anyone will be able to have access wherever they are. They are however less secure.

An alternative is for us to create a live video stream that is published directly on your corporate website. This can be either open to anyone with the link or only accessible to people who are signed up and /or have a password. How secure does the stream need to be? Is it a free or paid event?

However, if you wish to live stream your London event to a smaller group that you wish to remain private and closed to the public, depending on how secure your message needs to be, there are various options.

Zoom can be a great option if you want to go secure and make sure only people who are signed up can watch the event. You can schedule a webinar instead of a meeting. This can make use of the presenter’s own webcam on their computer, or we can and film it with our professional broadcast cameras and add your branding to the images etc. Skype is also an option.

And of course, none of this will be worth it if people don’t know that your live stream event is happening!

Utilise your organisation’s social media platforms and clearly communicate to your intended audience when your event is taking place and how and where they can view it.
