What oil should I use in my Generator?
15-05-2019
What oil do I need is a question on many new generator owners minds. A generator can be an expensive purchase and it can be daunting when starting the machine for the first time. You have to make sure you are using all the right fuels and lubricants. As the oil needed may vary, it is always best to check the manual provided with your generator. Two different types of oil are displayed: one for below zero degree and one for above. If you are operating within the UK the chances are you will need the latter. We sell a range of oils on the website however not for all generators therefore if you cant find it on the website then you will be best to visit your local car parts shop where you should find it.
How to add lubricants to your generator?
Generators use internal combustion engines very similar to what you would find in your car. Just on a smaller scale. Therefore the process of adding oil is very similar. The first thing you need to do is locate the oil cap on the generator, this should be shown in the user manual. Undo the cap and using a funnel, pour the lubricant into the generator. Make sure to only add a little bit at a time as overfilling the generator can cause issues. Once the process is complete you can use your generator freely. If you wish to do an oil change then we recommend consulting a professional who will perform a full service on your generator.
