In 2024, Gibbons will be celebrating its 55th year in business, and what better way to do this than by opening a brand new building. Plans for a new warehouse and workshop have been on the back burner for several years but six months ago, the decision was made and the demolition team rolled in and began taking down the fan assembly workshop.
It wasn’t a job for the faint-hearted. In preparation for the destruction of the building, everything had to be cleared out and relocated to another temporary workshop so the agricultural team could continue working as normal. A lot of work and planning has gone into making sure that the engineering business could operate as usual and once everything was in place and stored away safely, the heavy machinery and demolition team moved in to knock down the building.
It was a bittersweet moment for the agricultural fans division. Years of memories were stored in the old white building as it was one of the original motor winding buildings from Gibbons Engineering’s early years. But progress must be made and as the building came crashing down it was clear by the space left behind that the opportunity for a better workspace was important for the business to continue to grow.
Soon after the destruction of the agricultural building, the grey HVAC warehouse was next in line to be carefully dismantled. This proved to be a tougher, noisier, and messy task as the two-story structure left a lot of rubble and concrete in its wake. After two weeks of hard work by the demolition team, the old buildings have been successfully removed and the groundwork is now ready to be started.
Without giving too much away, the new-look Gibbons warehouse will encompass the remaining area left behind from the previous buildings and also add two extra parking spaces and three updated LGV parking spaces. Large deliveries will be easier as there will be more space in front of the two buildings. With a new, modern look that matches the current Gibbons offices, the new warehouse will further enhance Gibbons as a forward-thinking company with a bright future.
