In honour of Learning at Work Week 2021, ICS are shining a spotlight on the importance of training staff, not only to keep up to date with current regulations but for the benefit of the company and individual’s progression, understanding and career development.
The company has invested in ILM Leadership and Management Level 5 for a member of the Senior Management team, this is the first formal training for management carried out by the company, this has been followed up with CPD sessions with other staff to share the knowledge and grow together as a company.
Lorraine Brown (Commercial Manager) said, “The Leadership and Management course that I have been attending has given me plenty to think about and the tools to implement improving performance within ICS. As a company we have enjoyed discussing some of these ideas and starting to make changes.”
As well as this, office skills development included Reception Skills, Business Administration, Level 3 Executive PA Specialist and upskilling our internal Marketing team in Digital and Social Media Marketing courses using Google Digital Garage and Hubspot Academy, along with Institute of Roofing courses.
Chantalle Sullivan (PA to the Operations Manager) said, “Upskilling our administration and marketing teams is crucial to the smooth running of the office and will play a key role in promoting the business in a modern way, as well developing the personal skills and talent of the individuals”.
Two of our Estimating Department have also been carrying out their NVQ in Construction Contracting Operations (Estimating) which has been giving them a solid knowledge to progress their career in Estimating.
Martin Greenham (Estimator) said, “As someone new to the company, job role and construction industry, the Estimating NVQ has accelerated my understanding and furthered my knowledge. It ensured that I fully understand everything involved with a certain task before submitting it and enabled me to explore my role in more depth.
The course has not just helped with my estimating role; it has given me the confidence to get involved with all the aspects of a project when required, from the first tender documents received to the post snagging for a completed project. “ Two of our Flat Roofing Contracts Managers completed their SMSTS courses, consolidating their knowledge to enable effective management on our Flat Roofing projects.
Darren Gray (Flat Roofing Contracts Manager) said, “The course is challenging but enjoyable and is helping my site supervision knowledge develop onto contracts management. I am looking forward to completing this qualification.”
We are proud of all our staff and subcontractors who have been completing training, despite the challenges of the pandemic.
We look forward to continuing developing staff’s skills for many years to come!
