A recent complete swarf system acquisition by Sheldon Precision was made possible thanks to the support of the South West manufacturing advisory service SWMAS LTD.
The consultancy supported Sheldon’s sustainability plans by securing them a grant as part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The goal of the investment for Sheldon fell in line with one of the funds' focus areas of achieving a low-carbon economy. The north Devon precision turned parts manufacturer was looking to implement changes to reduce their carbon footprint and save money.
The manual centrifuge system supplied by J&S Engineering comprises an Aryma 61 from our Swiss swarf spinner supplier Rimann AG, a bespoke A-frame gantry for loading and unloading the swarf bins plus the supply of swarf bins and a trolley.
Thanks to the funding support from the ERDF, Sheldon are now reclaiming their neat cutting oil for reuse in their factory & the recycling return for their spun swarf has increased due to a decrease in penalties from the recycler (fees are incurred for having contaminated swarf).
Many manufacturing companies are now focussing on the environmental impact of production and taking steps to manage their waste materials in a cost effective and indeed profitable way through the installation of systems such as this.
