Cable lugs for high temperatures
Due to increasing power densities, for example in switchgear, cables that allow a maximum operating temperature of over 90 °C are increasingly being used. In addition, high-temperature conductors are becoming increasingly important for cost reduction.
The demand for high-temperature solutions is therefore growing continuously. Klauke is responding to these developments and is constantly adapting its products to new requirements. A test based on IEC 61238-1-1 at an external accredited test laboratory has proven that the tinned R-series tubular cable lugs can be used in combination with high-temperature conductors up to a continuous temperature of 180 °C. This application includes fine-stranded conductors, tinned conductors of class 5 in accordance with EN 60228.
However, at such high temperatures it cannot be ruled out that the tin coating will lose its corrosion protection. These cable lugs should therefore only be used in protected environments.
