Find The Needle Add My Company
Klauke wishes a great Father's Day!

On the occasion of Father's Day, we interviewed Evi (@e_b236) and Manuel (@kistenich.elektrotechnik). What's special about these two? Not only they, but also their respective father and brother are electricians.

Evi is 29 years old and an electronics technician for automation technology. She started her apprenticeship in 2019 and successfully completed it in July 2022. In September 2022, she started further training to become an industrial forewoman in electrical engineering, where she expects to achieve the basic qualification this year in November.

Manuel is 43 years old and has been an electrician since 1995. His father has been an electrician since the early 1970s and started his own business in 1991. Manuel's brother has been an electrician since 2009.

What made you decide to start in the trades? Was your father even a role model here?

Evi: At some point I couldn't move on in my first job as a specialist for system catering, so I decided to do something new and do it properly. I've always been interested in electrical engineering, and my father and brother taught me a lot about it. They also tried to explain something to me from time to time when I asked them questions. A profession in this direction was at the top of my list, and I also knew that I had it in my blood somewhere.

Manuel: I've wanted to go to construction sites since I was a kid. That must have been in my cradle 😉 My brother was first a carpenter, then lost his job and started his second apprenticeship with my father and me.

Do you work with your father, maybe even in a joint business? If so, does everything always run smoothly?
😉

Evi: We don't work together in a company, but we are often out together or talk about things that happen in our day-to-day work. Apart from a few discussions of principle now and then, the whole thing runs very harmoniously, since each of us has his profession in electrical engineering. We also like to ask each other for advice and help each other with the experience we have in the individual areas.

Manuel: Yes, we work together. Two stubborn people often have their points of friction. But we have found a way to be reasonable with each other.

What do you love most about your job?

Evi: What I love most about my job is that you are always faced with new challenges, and you have to keep your head in the game. What also fascinates me the most is the interaction of the individual components. That a machine then runs as it should afterwards and to think exactly how it works, how everything interlocks and to understand it and be able to find errors, since I also have to deal with very old machines.

Manuel: Electricity and the ability to master this mystery. But also the many fun things in the SmartHome area. Automating things. That's cool 😎

What do you wish your father for Father's Day?

Evi: I wish my father all the best for Father's Day and look forward to our continued technical talk and hope that I can still learn a lot from him.

Manuel: I wish my father that he still enjoys a relaxed playground in his SmartHome field of work, where he can see the benefits for himself and others without the economic pressure on his neck.

We can only agree with this: we wish all fathers a great Father's Day!
