Nomad's Cornwall - St Agnes We are very lucky to be situated in the beautiful county of Cornwall - surrounded by amazing countryside, from coastal paths with breathtaking ocean views, to rugged moorland populated with ancient granite structures and rare wildlife. Cornish cottages in St Agnes Cornwall, alleyway We are all lovers of the great outdoors here at Nomad's HQ, and like to make the most of our surroundings. We're seriously spoilt for choice, but we wanted to share some of our favourite walking spots with you, starting with the picturesque village of St Agnes. St Agnes is a small village on the North Cornwall coast, steeped in mining history. Unlike the majority of our county's beauty spots, it's easily accessible from the A30, with only a very small amount of tiny Cornish roads involved! The village itself is full of charm, with a mix of quaint traditional mining cottages, and bay fronted Captain's houses. There is a vibrant, active community, and the village boasts great coffee shops, galleries, and of course a local pub. The Sorting Office is our top recommendation, with amazing coffee and freshly baked cakes. textured wood with flaking paint and vintage red telephone box overlooking blue Cornish sea Walking - There are many different routes you can take to explore the St Agnes area, but our favourite is the coastal path route to Trevaunance Cove. Beginning in the village car park - where a donation is requested as payment, (no registration demanding machines in sight!) head into the village until you reach Churchtown Arts. Alongside the shop you will find an alleyway signposted The Beacon. Follow this path past Ope Cottage and the playground. You will come to a five bar gate with a stile beside it, climb over the stile and keeping to the trodden path, walk through 4 fields and over 4 more stiles to Beacon Road where you will cross directly to the foot path on the other side. You will find another signpost for The Beacon, which you will follow to take you around the bottom edge of St Agnes Beacon to Beacon Drive. When you reach the road, cross over and follow the road straight ahead towards the coastal path. Follow the road for a short period, until you reach a small car park on your right. You will find several grass tracks from the car park that will lead you down to the main footpath signposted Newdowns Head (right). Continue along this path around Newdowns Head, Polberro Cove and down to Trevaunance Cove. This walk isn't for the faint hearted, and will take roughly 2 hours at a steady pace. It is, however, undoubtedly worth it for the stunning views of the ocean, as well as being a prime spot for spotting dolphins and basking sharks, with many reported sightings. We haven't been lucky enough yet ourselves! Once you reach Trevaunance Cove, your hard work will be rewarded with the sight of The Driftwood Spars, a once tin mining warehouse, converted to a pub in the 1940's. With outside seating in the summer and cosy log burners in the winter, it's the perfect spot to refuel. They have a great selection of Cornish seafood, as well as a variety of vegetarian options, which isn't always easy to find. 2 images of St Agnes Cornwall blue ocean sea view yellow gorse The best bit - The best thing about this walk, is that if you are well and truly exhausted, or perhaps spent a little too long in the beer garden, there is a sneaky 15 minute walk back to the car park! Just follow the road that leads up from the beach, and keep walking until you see a sign on your right signposted The Village, and simply follow this path.
