More electronics designers are now specifying OKW's robust SOLID-BOX to protect sensitive touchscreens, control panels, and displays in demanding industrial environments.
With IK 08 (impact resistance) and IP 66/IP 67 (ingress protection), the SOLID-BOX is ideally suited for use in plant and machine construction, HVAC systems, IoT/IIoT, Smart Factory/Industry 4.0, gateways, data loggers, ICT, electrical installations, measurement/control systems, agriculture, sensor technology, and safety engineering.
The SOLID-BOX combines rugged functionality with an aesthetically pleasing design, featuring a sleek, highly polished finish. Snap-on trims conceal tamperproof and corrosion-resistant Torx fixing screws, as well as captive lid screws. Separate screw channels allow for installation with the lid closed, protecting the seal and the internal electronics.
The lid is gently bevelled and includes a large recess for a membrane keypad or product label. The base has deep recesses on the long sides to safeguard connectors and interfaces, while internal fastening pillars support PCBs, mounting plates, and DIN rails.
Moulded in anthracite grey (RAL 7016) or light grey (RAL 7035) PC+ABS (UL 94 V-0), the SOLID-BOX offers increased heat resistance (Vicat/B 120 = 110°C) and chlorine-/bromine-free flame resistance. Custom colours are available on request.
It comes in three sizes: 115 (135 x 115 x 50 mm), 145 (180 x 145 x 60 mm), and 175 (225 x 175 x 70 mm). The rear mounting points on the 145 and 175 sizes are compatible with VESA MIS-D 75/100 hole patterns.
Accessories for the SOLID-BOX include lid retainers, internal hinges, non-slip feet for desktop use, and self-tapping screws for PCBs or DIN rails. Cable glands (M12 to M20) and cable bushings are also available.
OKW offers full customisation of the SOLID-BOX, with services including CNC machining, printing and laser marking of logos and legends, decorative foils, EMC shielding, and the assembly/installation of accessories.
