Recently, the company invested in a new hydraulic power pack from Phoenix Hydraulics for its bespoke testing services. The power pack's Artemis hydraulic pumps utilise cutting-edge digital displacement technology and have increased TRaC's flexibility in performing bespoke tests." Mark Heaven, TRaC Global, explains: "The benefits of Digital Displacement® technology have been substantial. The new hydraulic pumps have all the strengths of traditional hydraulic machines but with increased energy efficiency and greater controllability. The pumps are connected to our ring main and are able to keep it running at a constant pressure. Previously, we had to carefully select the hydraulic power pack to suit each bespoke testing project whereas now we can run all projects using the same, single power pack. Our rig demands for flow and pressure are infinitely variable, but the almost instantaneous response of the pump ensures the ring main pressure is maintained. We are already seeing a real return on our investment and the pumps also have the added advantage that when there is no demand for pressure building or flow then they will idle at low pressure, reducing power consumption and improving operating efficiency."
