The Original, Most Reliant Dome Valve
23-01-2019
The DV Dome Valve, available from Schenck Process, has seen thousands of installations worldwide and is proudly the first Dome Valve to be engineered for the bulk material processing industries.
Created 44 years ago, as part of our Clyde Process product range, the expertise and innovation captured within the DV Dome Valve has remained consistently high and provided reliant, effective performance for thousands of applications.
Typically installed, as part of a Pneumatic or Injection Conveying system, the DV Dome Valve is a pressure-tight compressed air operated valve, capable of returning over three million maintenance-free cycles, even in abrasive, hazardous or toxic applications.
Acting as a fast-closing cut-off valve, it innovatively incorporates a unique inflatable sealing mechanism. This mechanism provides the pressure tight seal, against the dome surface when in the closed position - ensuring reliable, instant control and efficient performance.
As the first Dome Valve launched to the market, its success and reputation evolved it into it becoming a critical part of an overall production process. Consequently, over time, other manufacturers have created adaptations of the original Dome Valve, as value-engineered alternatives. Value-engineering a non-commodity item does present its risks, potentially impacting quality output and performance.
Dependable Performance
The investment made by clients in the many industries that use Pneumatic Conveying and Injection, such as those from the food, pharmaceutical, plastics through to the mineral and metal sectors, is significant. The process ensures the quality of their product and therefore should be implemented by systems that reflect their business ethos.
With this in mind, as part of a full turn-key Conveying system from Schenck Process or as a stand-alone component, the unique features within the DV Dome Valve has ensured it successfully continues to deliver reliable and efficient performance, alongside minimal maintenance to customers globally.
Materials Handled
The materials handled by the DV Dome Valve are extensive and include:
• Cohesive
• Toxic
• Friable
• Abrasive
• Powders
• Chemical
• Hazardous
• Detergents
• Minerals
• Ores
• Ash
• Granules
Specification and Performance of DV Dome Valves
Customised & Standard Manufacture: DV Dome Valves from Schenck Process can be customised to meet the special requirements of each application, whilst a range of ‘typical/standard’ DV Dome Valves, are pre-assembled, for speed of supply.
To specify the most suitable valve, Schenck Process would work with you to understand the size/nominal bore and required configuration (Bulkhead, Top adaptor, Bottom adaptor or Inline), as well as the actuator type and product temperature rating.
The range also includes optional internal coatings, which can be applied to the Dome surface or to the internal surfaces of the DV Dome Valve body or the adaptors.
Internal Coating Options: Although there are a variety of choices, examples of internal coatings include, tungsten carbide hard coating for abrasive products, hard chrome facing on dome surface for sticky and abrasive products and reinforced PTFE for food applications / sticky / wet products.
Seal Selection: As part of the range, several inflatable seals are available, depending upon the application. The options also include a white food quality seal as well as those specially formulated for high temperature or other hostile applications.
Actuator: For DV Dome Valves with outlets that are up to 400mm in diameter, Vane Actuators can be used, providing a neat, compact arrangement. For DV Dome Valves of 200mm and above, pneumatic/hydraulic cylinder activators, which use a torque arm are available, providing increased closing torque pressure.
Product Temperature Ratings: Standard DV Dome Valve are suitable for 20° to 200°C, whilst water-cooled DV Dome Valves, to 480°C. Up to 750°C is available and manufactured to order.
Pressure Ratings: A 7 bar maximum pressure is achieved on the standard DV Dome Valve, having 10 bar design. Up to 35 bar can also be manufactured to order, if required for the application.
Manufacture: Where applicable, the DV Dome Valves are manufactured in accordance with the European Pressure Vessel Directive 97/23/EC, BSEN 13445, BSEN 14460, BSEN 1127 and BSEN 12516.
