DALTON 3MG 2350
SIPCO has recently completed the SIPS frame for the pretigious Dalton Cumbrian research facility for Manchester University. The project incorporated two steel frame super structures which were then 'wrapped' in a highly insulated SIPS (Structural insulated panel) envelope.
The project utilised over 4000 sq.m of SIPS panels by SIPCO. The Dalton Cumbrian facility is a new state of the art complex for the Dalton Nuclear institute where academia and industry can carry out world leading research and deliver dedicated skills development programmes.
Research will focus on radiation, nuclear engineering decommissioning and management of radioactive waste. The design design was developed by Wilson Mason architects to reflect the rugged rural setting and comprises two blocks, one contains the laboratories and offices and the other, the specialist science areas.
SIPS (Structural insulated Panels) were selected for their ability to create a highly insulated building envelope along with excellent air tightness capabilities.
The facility has recently gained BREEAM 'Very Good' rating.
