Priory Ruskin Academy
19-12-2013
SIPCO has completed the first project with National contractor Shepherd Construction. Priory Ruskin Academy is the first of two academy developments in Lincolnshire through the Partnership for Schools (PfS) framework. Shepherd Construction is set to deliver the £12 million Priory Ruskin Academy at Grantham on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council and the respective sponsors, the Priory Trust and the University of Lincoln.
Building work on the 8,430m² Priory Ruskin Academy started in February 2012. The plans will enable the academy, which is currently split between two sites, to operate from one location accommodating up to 1,250 pupils aged 11 to 19, and to specialise more in visual arts, sport and health.
Construction will comprise a new two-storey building, specialist teaching block, four teaching house blocks and demolition of the existing school building.
The project utilised 175mm SIP panels for the roof on the all new blocks. In total over 5000 sq,m of SIPS (Structural insulated panels) has been incorporated into the steel frame structures to form the new roof. A lightweight Metrotile roofing system has been used as the roof finish
