FLAGON, Soprema’s range of PVC membranes, is extremely versatile. For more than fifty years, we have been producing premium synthetic products that guarantee the performance and integrity of waterproofing systems in the most complex shapes, including exposed flat, inverted, barrel, mono-pitch and ballasted roofing applications, in low or steep slopes, and in both new build and refurbishment scenarios. But not only buildings can be waterproofed using our PVC membranes. The FLAGON solutions are also perfectly suited for civil engineering projects, for hydraulic constructions or water management projects, and swimming pools.
SOPREMA’S BROAD RANGE OF PVC MEMBRANES
FLAGON PVC waterproofing membranes represent a new generation of synthetic waterproofing solutions, based on innovative formulations and utilising thermo-plastic polymer technology.
A VERSATILE PRODUCT RANGE
FLAGON PVC waterproofing membranes are available in …
… various versions: with a smooth underface, laminated to a polypropylene needle felt, and with non-woven polyester or fiberglass reinforcement.
… various thicknesses (from 1.2 to 2.0 mm).
ACCESSORIES FOR PVC MEMBRANES
Soprema also provides all the necessary accessories to complete your PVC roofing system, such as cleaning fluids, adhesives (both spray-applied and regular) and sealants like SOPRASEAL TC; but also rainwater outlets, leaf guards, lightning conductor pads, and other finishing accessories.
COPPER AND SILVER ART
Our FLAGON Copper & Silver Art range is a perfect example of Soprema’s tendency to rethink traditional materials to pioneer practical alternatives with a comparable aesthetic. FLAGON Copper Art combines the advantages of synthetic roofing with the stunning look of copper cladding, providing a valuable alternative to the latter. We even provide standing seam profiles with which you can achieve the aesthetic finish of a traditional standing seam metal roof.
FLAGON Copper & Silver Art is favoured by building insurance providers as an alternative to traditional materials as it has no second-hand value and therefore reduces the risk of thefts (a real risk in the current economic climate).
THE MANY ADVANTAGES OF FLAGON PVC
Versatility is not our FLAGON PVC membranes’ only advantage. Other strengths include:
Flexibility, even at low temperatures
FLAGON PVC membranes are easy to install, making them a smart choice for large scale commercial projects.
Light weight
This results in a lower permanent load on the structure onto which the FLAGON PVC system is applied.
High UV and weather resistance
FLAGON PVC membranes provide a compound that is much more weather resistant than competitive brands.
High mechanical, puncture, and tear resistance
Our PVC membranes are strengthened with a polyester reinforcement with excellent tensile strength properties.
Various installation methods, including flame-free applications which ensure the PVC membranes can be used in BROOF(t4) systems:
fully adhered (with an adhesive),
loose laid,
mechanically fastened to the substrate,
induction welded (offering unparalleled weldability at the most critical joints, e.g. overlaps, and therefore eliminating the need for sealing joints)
Sustainability
FLAGON PVC is 100% recyclable at the end of its service life. The membranes are also sustainably manufactured using rainwater to cool machinery. The water recirculates through a closed circuit to avoid any chance of pollution.
Superior aesthetics
The FLAGON range can be ordered in any RAL colour to suit your specific design requirements.
Extensive service life
FLAGON systems last over 35 years.
BBA certification
FLAGON SR, FLAGON SR SC and FLAGON SR DE all have BBA certification.
Exceptional dimensional stability
FLAGON PVC IN AWARD-WINNING PROJECT
Modern architecture requires high-performance materials and solutions that provide durable results in terms of functionality, profitability, and attractiveness. FLAGON, which is based on over half a decade of synthetic membrane manufacturing experience and industry-leading technologies, meets those requirements to a T.
St. Johns Hill is a case in point. For this project, Soprema-approved roofing contractor DF Roofing replaced the existing lead roof with a FLAGON SR synthetic waterproofing system, winning the Single Ply Roofing Category at the 2021 National Federation of Roofing Contractors Awards.
At the start of the project, the idea was to replace the roof as like for like. Yet it was soon decided to go with a more lightweight solution, namely the FLAGON PVC SR membrane with a standing seam profile to give it the appearance of a lead roof.
There were several challenges in designing this roof, such as making sure to achieve Building Regulations. This meant insulating from the outside whilst taking into account the existing cold roof build-up. In addition, the build-up below the deck had additional layers to allow for the internal fit-out. This resulted in a fairly complex build-up, with Soprema conducting various calculations to advise which option would reduce the risk of condensation. The calculations allowed construction contractor Thomas Sinden to install a vapour barrier at the correct layer.
The FLAGON PVC SR membrane SR membrane was ideal for the St. Johns Hill project, as the mansard roof layout and the dormers leant itself to a mechanically fixed application.
