EXTENSIVE CALCULATIONS SERVICE
The expertise and availability of our technical team is one of the pillars of our roofing service. These experts can provide calculations such as wind load or wind uplift and U-value calculations. To determine the thermal validity of the proposed insulation solution or to get suggestions for adaptations where needed, contractors and specifiers can either complete a form and put our experts to work, or use our online U-Value Calculator.
In addition, we can help with WuFi calculations for the PAVATEX systems to assess any moisture movement throughout the construction. We tell you whether the build-up you had in mind will work or needs tweaking (and if so, which adjustments are recommended). We can even draw up a full report if required, including graphs and a list of the parameters we tested, with the results and acceptable limits.
Finally, we can assist you with detailed drainage calculations to determine how many outlets are required on a given roof area. Seeing that roof areas can be complex and numerous (with some roofs having up to forty sections), we always make sure to carefully colour code all of them so it’s easy to see which areas our plans are referring to.
SPECIFICATION SUPPORT
We also write bespoke specifications, both for refurbishment projects and new builds. For the former, we start by gathering information through a detailed site survey and feeding those data into our in-house Survey and Specification Tool (SST). To make sure our specification support is as technically driven as it should be, we have dedicated experts writing specifications. You can rely on their extensive expertise and their ongoing training, which ensures they keep up with the latest regulations.
The result of our specification writing is a user-friendly, transparent document created through NBS Chorus that enables you to make the best choices for your project. We even help you compare our solution to others you may have in mind. Among other tools, we use Better Value Engineering to help you objectively select the perfect option in no time.
Before the start of the project, we provide specific guidelines and our site technicians make sure that the right accessories are used, that the project safety conditions are in order, and that every other aspect of the works is carried out according to the code of practice described.
APPROVED CONTRACTOR NETWORK
To guarantee that you are working with contractors who have all the skills necessary to carry out the works and to handle our products, we have established an extensive network of approved Soprema installers throughout the UK for you to rely on. These experts have the right qualifications – from NVQs or National Vocational Qualifications to manufacturer approval cards – and have been trained extensively at our own centre. You can trust that their knowledge of our materials is up to date.
TRAINING SESSIONS
We offer training courses for the experts employed by our approved contractors and clients. The training is specific for operatives who are already skilled and qualified with an NVQ or a similar qualification: we guide them on the use of Soprema products and systems. When the trainees show the correct competence level and approval, they are issued with an approved operative card, produced and registered by the Soprema Technical department.
Moreover, any client who opts for a system that we specified receives a toolbox talk at the start of their project, so everyone involved can get familiar with the health and safety policies, which are of course of crucial importance.
ROOF REPAIR SERVICE
In the event of damage (both to new roofs or existing roofs that need repair or renewal), we can send a team of technical experts to inspect the situation on site. After their roof survey, they draw up a condition report and propose a bespoke solution.
WARRANTY FOR YOUR PEACE OF MIND
Soprema acts as your supplier for solutions for the entire building envelope. Moreover, because we manufacture our products ourselves, we can provide the best advice and act as a single point of warranty. This also means that we can propose a systems approach in which different materials are safely combined – for instance in hybrid solutions for details and upstands, where ALSAN’s compatibility with all our other waterproofing systems provides an alternative solution.
