Taking on the Edale Skyline Challenge!

Since announcing Blythe House Hospicecare and Helen’s Trust as our charity of the year we’ve had a fantastic response from our partners, who have truly embraced the spirit of all fundraising activities so far. From our ‘Get up and Go' initiative in January, which encouraged everyone to get active, to going ‘blue for a day’ in February and even bringing in bags of donations to our Strines office for the organisation’s charity shops. We’ve had a brilliant start to our fundraising year - and we’re not stopping now!

We’re excited to reveal the main event in our fundraising calendar, one which we hope will really super charge support for our charity partner of the year far beyond our company; The DJS Research Edale Skyline Challenge 2024!

On May 16th 2024, a team of intrepid explorers from all across DJS Research will embark on the Edale Skyline walk, starting off in the Hope Valley at 8.30am and finishing up in Castleton some 20 miles and c.8-9 hours later. And taking on the challenge really isn’t a walk in the park!

On the day itself our team will hike 32 kms across some of the highest points in the Peak District, covering a whopping 1,200 metres of ascent (almost as high as Ben Nevis!) With mixed levels of experience and ability within the team, everyone’s committed to train hard - completing the challenge will be an incredible achievement for all involved.

Lead organiser, and the person who proposed the idea to take on the Edale Skyline route, is Research Director Jenna Allen. An avid hiker herself, Jenna first gauged interest levels in a sponsored walk last year and was overwhelmed by the positive response she received. Speaking about the upcoming challenge, Jenna said:

I am delighted with the level of interest there has been in taking part in this amazing challenge. In our new hybrid working times, it is a great opportunity for us all to spend the day together and get to know each other more in one of the most beautiful parts of our country, and it is fantastic to be able to support such a worthy cause based in the local area.”

With just 7 weeks to go to challenge day and a 10 mile training walk planned in Whaley Bridge in late April, the team are starting to clock up the miles – and the gradients - in preparation for what lies ahead.

So how can you show your support? You can sponsor our incredible challenge team via our JustGiving page here!

All donations, of any amount, will make a huge difference to Blythe House Hospicecare and Helen’s Trust, helping to fund the vital services they provide for patients and their families affected by life-limiting illnesses.

Your support and sponsorship is massively motivating for our challenge team too – every penny raised will help drive them forward to smash this hike for our charity of the year. And we’ll be following their progress in the run up to the event and throughout the challenge day itself across our social media channels, so follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter to see them in action.
