The Project
Approved in 2013 and completed at a cost of £12 million, this state-of-the-art facility opened in 2015 as was the first of its kind in Northern Ireland. It has significantly elevated the quality of evidence provided by Forensic Science Northern Ireland (FSNI), revolutionising the criminal justice system in the region.
The building is equipped with a high-care environment that will enable FSNI to provide the latest forensic services. With its efficient design and layout, the building is poised to enhance workflow and increase productivity across FSNI’s operations.
The building features 47 individual preparation and recovery laboratories that adhere to ISO 14644 Class 6 cleanroom standards, along with related support and ancillary accommodation. These improvements will lead to faster turnaround times, thanks to careful planning of floor layouts and functionality.
